Microneedling creates thousands of precise micro-channels in the skin. Each one is a controlled injury that your body repairs by laying down fresh collagen and elastin — which is why it works so well on scarring, open pores and the fine crêpey texture that creams cannot reach.
It is also one of the most commonly mishandled treatments in the market. Depth has to suit the area, needles must be single-use and sterile, and on brown skin over-aggressive passes cause the very pigmentation patients came in to fix. No. Home rollers cannot reach a therapeutic depth, are difficult to sterilise, and drag rather than stamp the skin — which risks tearing and infection. We advise against them.
